this is my beautiful friend cheka, photo courtesy of ashlee decaires photography. she is due september 4th with a baby boy! i can't wait to see how cute he is. friday a bunch of us surprised her with a baby shower. it was tons of fun full of treats, gifts, and a few silly games. i am sad to say that i didn't take my camera to the party, shame shame. but i did capture a few before of some treats i made!
the party thrown by cheka's friend rebecca had a green, yellow, and blue color scheme and was so adorable. since we live in hawaii and cheka is having a boy, i decided to make delicious blue jello sailboat cups from a picture i saw briefly on pinterest once. cute enough, and they were gobbled up! also the cups look foggy because i had just pulled them out of the fridge and that's what happens with hawaii's humidity, everything sweats hehe.

i broke the recipe up and made four boxes of jello first, then six more because i ran out and didn't realize it would take so much jello. i just simply followed the directions on the box. jello is so easy that you may not even need the recipe. but in case, here it is. if you have a massive pot or bowl you can make this all at once as directed below. otherwise break the recipe in half and repeat.
sailboat cups
*enough for 18 people
ingredients
10 boxes of blue jello (1 box makes about 2 cups jello)
10 cups boiling water (1 cup per box)
10 cups cold water (1 cup per box)
bag of clementine oranges
bag of pre-sliced swiss or provolone cheese
18 toothpicks
18 clear plastic cups
18 clear plastic cups
directions
in a large pot boil 10 cups water
add jello mix to boiling water and remove from heat
stir until jello mix is completely dissolved
slowly add 10 cups cold water
stir until well mixed together
pour jello mixture into 18 plastic cups
place in brownie or cake pans in refrigerator and let them harden (3-4 hours)
once jello is set, remove from fridge
break apart clementines into sections of two
cut slices of cheese into right angle triangles
place toothpick through cheese to make the sail
place the sail into middle of clementine
plop the sailboat on top of each jello cup
serve!
oh my goodness! cutest jello shots EVER.
