My heart is so full of gratitude. I cannot even begin to thank all the people that deserve thanks. Remi has been beyond spoiled by so many. Her welcome to the earth was grand, and I truly believe she is something remarkably special. She fought to be here and be with our family, as did we, and it was nothing short of divine miracles that lead to our union.
In November when Rems was just six weeks old, our family went to my parent's house in Idaho for Thanksgiving. My mom and sisters threw an adorable baby shower with the best theme! Mexican boho fiesta!!! I LOVED IT! They nailed all my favorite things and colors beautifully. There was an adorable tassel garland above the presents, the table was lined with the cutest boho runner topped with cactus, pretty florals, and succulents. The Mexican food was AMAZING! My mom made ALL of it herself! A delicious taco salad bar, yummy sherbet float drink, jarritos, and even friend ice cream. What a dream.
Truly grateful that I was able to celebrate Remi joining our family amongst family and friends I've known since I was born. Some of my old teammates from soccer even showed up, literally brought tears to my eyes. Living far away in California is hard for me because I really miss all of those that mean so much to me back home. So for them to take the time to do this for us while we were visiting for the holidays meant more then they will ever know. Love all of you who attended, and my best friends (mom and sisters) for making us girlies feel so special and loved. Because of our amazing baby showers, I didn't have to buy diapers until Remi was 4 months old. BLESSINGS, blessings, on top of more blessings. xoxo . . .
A few weeks after Remi was born, my sister in laws through me the most beautiful baby shower. It was an explosion of all of my favorite things and colors! Pineapples, palms, tropical flowers, fruit, pinks, greens, aqua, chocolate, yummy salad, water colors, GAH it was perfect! I adored every bit. THANK YOU to all who helped throw this together. It was such a special gift for Remi and I, and we were spoiled beyond words. Needless to say, the outfits and diapers received have been getting us three these past four months :). I felt very special in the queen peacock chair and we definitely felt the love. Blessings big time!
The dinner that was served was pulled pork sandwiches on Hawaiian rolls, salad, and fruit with yummy dip. The dessert was a beautiful spice cake, an array of brownies, cheesecake, cupcakes, and little lemon tarts. Everything was so dang good! And not to mention the pina colada (virgin-hehe) drinks were to die for. Kristi and Lindsay set up a questionnaire game that explained our adoption story for the people in attendance to have a basic background. Chase showed up near the end to present our little angel to all our family and friends (she was two weeks old). Remi is one loved little lady, and I'm so lucky to have her!
I was also so grateful to have my mom there with me (so sad we didn't get a photo) to celebrate this big day at my side. I have been to MANY baby showers and seen all my friends become mothers. So to finally have my special day brought tears to my eyes. Every day I am grateful to be a mom, and love every bit of where I am at in life. Wouldn't trade any of it for the world.
This summer a lot of my friends are pregnant. In my ward (church) alone, there are 5 girls that are pregnant. Its been so fun watching them all become mothers. Lucky for me, I was able to plan this shower for Marissa. Baby "E" (haven't decided the name yet) is their first baby, and I couldn't be more excited for her!
Just a background. Marissa is an extremely talented painter and artist! Because of this, I knew I had to use an art theme. I incorporated some photos of her and her husband as a child, as well as painting she did when she was 3-5 years old. Using her art supplies as well as making the water color table cloth and garland was super fun! Painting wooden blocks sounded like the perfect activity, and I loved that people could sign them on the bottom so mama could remember who came to her shower. We served taco salads for dinner and her favorite cake (german chocolate) for dessert. We ended the night with her opening gifts adorned with a wall of floating balloons and baby pics of her and her husband.
The baby shower turned out great, and I'm so glad friends came to celebrate Marissa and her first baby! Sometimes when I'm hosting things, I get caught up in duties and forget to get good picture of faces! I can't believe I didn't get a photo of just the mama to be! Owell :) I'm just glad I documented at all. Good memories with good people!
