rem's mexican fiesta baby shower

Photos taken November 2016
My heart is so full of gratitude. I cannot even begin to thank all the people that deserve thanks. Remi has been beyond spoiled by so many. Her welcome to the earth was grand, and I truly believe she is something remarkably special. She fought to be here and be with our family, as did we, and it was nothing short of divine miracles that lead to our union.

In November when Rems was just six weeks old, our family went to my parent's house in Idaho for Thanksgiving. My mom and sisters threw an adorable baby shower with the best theme! Mexican boho fiesta!!! I LOVED IT! They nailed all my favorite things and colors beautifully. There was an adorable tassel garland above the presents, the table was lined with the cutest boho runner topped with cactus, pretty florals, and succulents. The Mexican food was AMAZING! My mom made ALL of it herself! A delicious taco salad bar, yummy sherbet float drink, jarritos, and even friend ice cream. What a dream.

Truly grateful that I was able to celebrate Remi joining our family amongst family and friends I've known since I was born. Some of my old teammates from soccer even showed up, literally brought tears to my eyes. Living far away in California is hard for me because I really miss all of those that mean so much to me back home. So for them to take the time to do this for us while we were visiting for the holidays meant more then they will ever know. Love all of you who attended, and my best friends (mom and sisters) for making us girlies feel so special and loved. Because of our amazing baby showers, I didn't have to buy diapers until Remi was 4 months old. BLESSINGS, blessings, on top of more blessings. xoxo . . .

LOVE SMASH

I am so grateful for this awesome, silly, ridiculous family of mine. Each Thanksgiving, we attempt at some family photos. It was cold and windy, but we did it. I'm so glad each of my siblings were there this year, and that we were able to spend time together eating, laughing, talking for hours, playing with our kids, and attempting a game of football. It's always full of sarcasm, love, and a bunch of conversations that we feel make us wise. Sure do love my family, and so glad everyone got to meet Remi over the Thanksgiving holiday. Idaho this time of year is my absolute favorite.

our second home

Chase and I hopped on over from J building to H building back in March! Oh the TVA life, it's a good one. (TVA is our apartment complex name for BYUH married students). Let me tell you, upgrading to a one bedroom from a studio felt like Christmas! I couldn't believe how many extra drawers we had and space in our bedroom. It was pretty cool to have more privacy as well for when visitors come. Plus, we got a corner aparment on the second floor which means a little bit of extra square footage and an extra window (the one with the leis). Can't complain about getting extra light. I love light!

Most of these pictures may come off boring or pointless to many of you. But I posted them each for a reason. I love this little apartment and cherish the memories Chase and I have made here. Living this simple life has been hard at times, but beautiful overall. We watch movies on our computer from bed, always getting neck cricks and back pains from searching for the perfect position. Our mirror has fallen off the wall many times and broken its frame, but I finally found a way to make it stick! I have downsized the amount of clothing, shoes, and jewelry I own and at times still find myself wearing the same 3 outfits and pair of shoes. There's an annoying wall separating the living room and kitchen to trick us into feeling like they are actually two separate rooms; while there is even a more peculiar space in the wall separating our bedroom from the living room of which we have hung a shower curtain for privacy. Our surf rack was handed down from a friend covered in ugly red spray paint that I never got around to re-painting. Ghetto, perhaps. Functional, absolutely.

There has been so much good that has happened to us here to outweigh the bad or dare I say ghetto-ness.  I make all of my decor from shells, sea glass, driftwood, and paint and I LOVE it. I love my home because it is just that, home. Chase may think our beaded doorway is way too hippie but I just love it and wish it was fuller. My sisters and I used to have a turquoise beaded doorway in our room during high school and we thought it was the raddest thing ever.

My style I have discovered is very bohemian beach free spirited, because that is where I find all my inspiration. I have a beautiful vision of my future home, an adorable colorful beach cottage. My husband and I are on exact opposite sides of the spectrum as far as our dream home goes, but I always say, "I'm the one who will be home with the kids staring at it all the time, so I'm gonna make it look the way I want and you'll just have to deal with it." Hah! Ok, I will let him give some input and of course won't go cheesy overboard, but I must say. I have a pretty ideal picture in mind, and it includes a beautiful garden, sea foam green front door, lots of flowers, and bright colors!

PS, we are moving from Hawaii on December 20th. It's official, our flights are purchased. Tear, lots and lots of tears.

our first home

i can hardly believe chase and i have almost been married a year! september 3rd couldn't come any quicker. after reflecting on this past year, i decided i wanted to document our first home together to remember it forever. things have changed a lot since the last time i touched on our apartment HERE. hope you enjoy the quick tour.

the second you step through our door you pretty much know what the entire place looks like. it's an all in one kinda deal! but our tiny studio is perfect for us, even though the most privacy you will ever find is in the shower hehe. when the oven is on our home becomes even more of an oven so our fan is always going. spiders, roaches, and ants love our house too much ewwww. if one of us wakes before the other, you better believe we're both awake because the fridge light beams you in the eyes alongside any slight noise you may make. we watch movies from our bed and struggle to find comfortable "viewing" positions since we have no tv and only have one place for our computer. this can make it awkward to have company haha, so we usually don't have movie nights here. when we have guests over we throw a blow up mattress in the kitchen and they can simply stretch their arm and grab something from the fridge. the paper thin walls aren't always our favorite and we discovered in our bathroom you can hear neighbors conversations clear as day, yikes! our shower curtain gets moldy within months so buying new ones periodically is a must, sorry about the most recent really girly one chase (it beat the lame butterfly ones)! when we hold gatherings people sit anywhere and everywhere and we don't care. our closet is ridiculously tiny and annoying and we have no storage space besides under our bed and the tiny cupboard above our computer. lastly, things here like to break down or not work but eventually they get fixed. it may not sound glamorous, but it is home to us. we couldn't be more grateful. it's the simple life, and we love it.

our home has everything we need and has brought us many wonderful memories as a newly married couple. we have grown so much this past year through ups and downs, and will only continue to in each home we live in. i can't wait. i have tried to make it homey with what we can, and grown to love the colors and joy it brings me when i walk in our door. coming home brings a smile to my face not only because i love my home, but because my hubby is here.

ps: i'm working on an art project right now and can't wait till it's finally complete. i'm painting a canvas to hang above the couch in that big blank space! don't worry, i'll post it when complete. i'm pretty excited to take my none existing paint talent and try to bust out something cute. i'm going for a heather brown inspired painting of chase surfing and me watching from the beach with my board. wish me luck!
