friends reunion

i've decided that nothing beats having friends visit the island. i had so much fun while mel was here, and got to play all day every day for an entire week! it's so fun exploring the island and getting out of the funk you usually get into after living in the same place for a while. believe it or not, that even happens in hawaii. chase wasn't able to join us too often because he was caught up with school and work. and to add to the fun, my friend aaron from new york visited too!

mel, aaron, and i all went to byu idaho together so it was fun reminiscing bout old times and catching up on the latest. it's so crazy how much life can change in just six years. so many good, funny, and not so good memories that shape us into who we are today. and none of which i would take back. and what better place to catch up with old friends then beautiful waiemea on a flawless day. the lighting was beautiful and the water was warm, and we even got to watch a cute pup named rusty jump the rock!

the next day mel and i played tourist and started out by snorkeling sharks cove, jumping the rock at waimea, looking at cute sea turtles at lanikea, eating sushi in haleiwa, and beach napping. perfect chill day. this day we took a lot of cool underwater pics, which sadly all turned out to be blurry messes. lame.

later in the week mel and i met up with aaron and his friend david and took them snorkeling at sharks cove. then of course we took them to waimea because every visitor to the island has to jump off the rock. 

after we jumped the rock and took a long beach nap, we headed to haleiwa and ate at my favorite . . . wailua bakery. they have the yummiest sandwiches and cookies! and on our way back we stopped at matsumotos for some famous shaved ice and ended the day with some surfing. pretty ideal if you ask me.

i had a great time hanging out with my friends and catching up on life. thank you melanie and aaron for visiting the island and letting me show you around! i will always strive to keep in touch with my college friends because every friend deserves a good reunion, especially after years gone by.
