longboarding

i have a cute hubby, couldn't help it. anyway, this weekend when we stayed in waikiki we also surfed, longboarded to be exact. right next to the royal hawaiian hotel. we rented our board at the usual place, moku, which is conveniently right next to a yummy steak place we like to eat lunch at. i love surfing waikiki because they are small and long lil' waves. they were real small this time, but breaking everywhere so it was so easy to catch tons of waves back to back. i was in heaven. good luck spotting me, i'm the one with a bun on my head! chase and i each took turns surfing and enjoyed the waves and perfect sunny day. chase paddled out further where the waves were a lil bigger, even though they were still baby waves to him. and i stayed closer in. sometimes we tandem, funnest thing i have ever done. although we didn't this day because we had to take turns watching our stuff on the beach. NEVER leave anything unattended.

 as you can tell waikiki is verrrrry touristy, so it is also extremely crowded which is the only annoying thing about surfing here. lots of people to avoid bumping you in the head with their massive boards, but a blast regardless. and the beach is pretty hard sand, unlike the north shore. you literally are towel to towel with strangers, which reminds me. i got hit on by a guy who apparently went to college in idaho. small world. it was quite hilarious, i haven't had that happen to me since my single days, and i dare say i didn't know how to handle the situation as a married person. but soon enough i threw out the "married, that's my husband surfing," comment, and all went quiet and awkward, as we quickly turned over on our towels. priceless.
