the other day as i was sitting on the beach while chase surfed the big waves and broke his leash, and i had lots of thoughts. i was thinking about how lucky we are to live in hawaii as i looked at the beautiful teal ocean, stormy blue sky, and cute little groms. it truly never gets old and is one of the most beautiful places in the world. i mean just look at that last picture! there are many times where i miss seeing family and being home, and enjoying the different activities seasons have to offer. i even long for change and stability post student life. but then there are times when i sit and think, "this simple life won't be forever. i gotta cherish this." which got me to even more thinking. i want the simple life forever. even if it isn't in hawaii. speaking of the simple life, i got a not-so simple job, well at least as a newbie.
i started my new job yesterday, and not gonna lie . . . i was a little overwhelmed. but who isn't on the first day at a new job, right?! i guess after working as a nanny, housekeeper, clean check RA, on-call dispatcher, and skateboard saleswoman, you kind of forget what it's like to actually have a job with consistent hours and "grown" people that you see every day. i took the position as a receptionist at a local doctor office, literally a 5 minute bike ride from my house. it was awesome feeling like an adult, dressed nice for work, working in a health related environment. i have a lot to learn so i hope i catch on fast enough. chase reminded me that i recently said i wanted my brain to be more stimulated and still learning, so this job is my chance. wish me luck!
after realizing my schedule will be much more packed with nannying, housekeeping, and working at the doctor office, my beach bum life is sadly going to slowly diminish. not completely of course, but definitely more so than usual. oh jobs, look what they do to us.
Yea! Congratulations on your grown up job! For some reason the idea of being a receptionist intimidates me, so go you!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you babe! you are gonna make one amazing receptionist. and those pictures are breathtaking! oh how i miss the salt water.
ReplyDeletei miss hawaii. so so beautiful. i hate to break it to you, but post-grad life is nowhere near stability. i used to say these kinds of things and it just gets worse haha...okay that's depressing, but you know from your sisters that i'd rather take college life any day haha. i'm glad you're recognizing that now is the time to cherish! there are wonderful times ahead, but boy is it tough to see the silver lining all the time :)
ReplyDeletei'm really excited about your new job, lisa. congratulations! be careful about what you put up on the internet though - employers/employees may stumble upon this and read it and you wouldn't want to say anything that would raise an eyebrow. i love you! can't wait to get details via phone.
xo
congrats on your new job! wahoo! sounds exciting!
ReplyDeleteUgh, that water makes me go crazy! Props, because I don't know how I'd work indoors with that view. It's healthy though and in the end I think we feel more accomplished :) Good luck!
ReplyDeletewell that didn't last long, haha. hope something else comes up for you sis!
