the beach got to my head

today i was talking with my good friend julie at the beach about our lives since college. not college at byu-hawaii, but college at byu-idaho. the iceberg of a place where i attended school for four years, leaving me with only an associates degree, but amazing and life-long friends. one of which includes julie.

as we sat on the beach during the golden hour where daylight meets sunset on the shoreline, i couldn't help but find myself thinking about how life always finds a way of working things out. in other words, time always finds a way of working things out. hard things, confusing things, good things, and even surprising things. it reminds me that god is good, and god loves me.

we were laughing at old memories and sighing relief about others. we're happy. i'm happy. sometimes it takes a while to find this inner feeling of peace, which is understandable given that life is always throwing curve balls and unexpected events. events of which are unavoidable and will only continue to help us each grow and learn as individuals, families, wives, and mothers.

i am eternally grateful for all that i have been through in my life thus far. all of it has lead me here, to this place. to this island, to my husband, to my life now as a wife and college graduate. i can't help but feel spoiled that i live on a tiny island in the pacific, where i can take a 15 minute drive to pipeline and stare at some of the most massive and beautiful waves in the world. magical i tell you, simply magical. life truly is what you make of it. and i decided a long time ago, i'm makin' it good!
