the hangout house

for spring break this year, my parents decided to come to hawaii! nothing more inviting than sand between your toes and warm weather after a long cold winter in idaho, don't ya think? i was so happy to see them and play on the beach together! plus chase and i were stoked on the house they rented. it was an adorable little beach cottage called, "the hangout house," right on pupukea, between gas chambers and pipeline. chase was in heaven, surfing whenever he wanted to, day in and day out. and eating breakfast, lunch and dinner on the lanai as we watched the surfers and sunset over the beautiful ocean . . . a dream.

my parents primarily spent their days laying on the beach, dining at local north shore eateries, and watching the surfers as whales breached in the distance. when i wasn't working, i was able to join them for some snorkeling at sharks cove and paddle boarding in haleiwa. chase spent most of his time in the water surfing, which led to the most devastating day of his life thus far, a broken surfboard. considering it was only a month in a half old, it was a very depressing day for all of us. but on an exciting note, i now have a new art project! time to paint the board! RIP raynor board, but you will forever look cute painted on my wall :).
