new hair

NEW HAIR!!!!
And I'm loving it, I still can't believe it's me!
Ken wanted to give me an earthy organic look and match my beachy lifestyle to my hair.
So on came the brown to beigey-golden ombre.
I think he nailed it :).
Two days in the salon for a total of around 13 hours was worth it.
And the damage was minimal. These people know what they are doing!
We even left with some free product and two follow up appointments.
AMAZING. We feel so thankful.

The week my sisters and I were in LA for our makeovers was so hectic.
We were frantically trying on millions of outfits to see what would work for the show.
I kept trying to find time to paint my dang nails which never happened. Annoying.
Driving around LA and Hollywood to find the salon was an adventure in itself.
Kylie played "manager" for us and was constantly taking care of stuff with the director.
It was crazy. Frantic. Wild. And SO FUN!
Needless to say we completely FORGOT to take after photos with our nice cameras.
Boo, so here you go with my cell phone pics. Better than nothing :)
The above photos ^^^ were after my final day in the salon and getting a beautiful blowout.
If only if only my hair looked like this everyday.

This was the day of the show.
I'm glad the makeup artist kept my look natural. I was worried, so that made me happy.
My sisters looked beautiful as well, I was astonished at how different we all look.
Walking together now people look at us differently. Almost like they are just glancing.
Like we're normal! Hah, that's been a first.
No more zoo animal stares trying to figure out what they are seeing!
Yes we are triplets and identical, but the hair makes us each feel unique and true to ourselves.
Such a fun change that we are having fun embracing.
If you ever have wanted to try something new with your hair, I dare you.
Because you are beautiful. If I can do it, you can do it. Trust me :)!

the triplets

A little over a month ago my sisters and I were approached through our travel blog by the tv show The Doctors to be featured in an episode discussing various beauty topics. WHATTTT, I know, our jaws dropped too. You see, we have been approached multiple times by various reality tv shows and companies to do a diddy on triplets with no follow through. So of course, we brushed it off thinking it would never happen. But to our surprise, IT DID! And this is how it went down.

Our debut was to have famous celebrity stylist Ken Paves whom we all adore, prove to the audience that any woman can pull off any hair color or cut she wants! So being triplets and all, we were prime candidates to add a little pazazz to the makeover hype. And he sure did prove himself right, because we all LOVE each others hair and find comfort knowing that we can pull off various colors and lengths.
As I mentioned yesterday along with the commercial, the episode airs today March 7th! The show is at different times depending on the area, so check HERE for your local listing if it's not too late. In the meantime, I will be sure to watch it by myself and avoid the thought of those who may be watching, eek! We basically were told to just go up there and talk, no script, all natural flow. So we hope we performed okay and appreciate you bearing with us. Being in the spotlight is definitely not our thing but we had fun pretending hehe. At least we have great hair. Now we just need Brazilian blowouts :)!!

goin' natural

one day i was doing research about hair. i found a lot of articles talking about the harmful chemicals in shampoo, conditioner, and many other hair products women use daily. after reading this one in particular, i was shocked and decided to give one thing a try. an at home remedy for shampoo and conditioner! check out the article above that i found it from for more details.

it is supposed to strip all chemicals and leftover product residue from your hair, leaving a healthy and clean shine. kind of like a fresh start! i figured why not, so i do it about twice a week (considering i only wash about 4 times a week). although, i still use regular shampoo and conditioner on occasion, as well as some hair product to tame my mane! so i haven't eliminated everything and don't think i will. but i do enjoy a nice change every now and again. i love how it is inexpensive, natural, easy, and at hand.

ingredients:

1 tablespoon of baking soda
1 tablespoon of vinegar
16 oz. (2 cups) of rain water, or tap
2, 8 oz. squeeze spray bottles

directions:
  • in one spray bottle pour in a tablespoon of baking soda with a funnel, fill up the rest with water
  • in the other spray bottle pour in a tablespoon of vinegar with a funnel, fill up the rest with water
~shake till dissolves~

now hop in the shower and give it a try!

hair

For a long time now I have been wanting some change with my hair. I really love the whole "ombre" look for brunettes and decided that is what I want. It seems perfect especially that I live in Hawaii so always sport a pretty good tan and lightened hair. But I wanted a boost. My good friend Lindsay Warner cuts my hair and this time my friend Natalie colored it. All at the local Hair Cut Store in Laie Shopping Center. It was a long process and isn't a drastic ombre but a subtle one just to add natural looking lightness.

I was trying to go for this hottie VS models's look. I can't do blonde in my hair because my hair is naturally curly so already dry and pretty damaged from all the dumb straightening. So we stuck to three colors around my natural at the roots, 2 shades or so lighter than my roots in middle section, and the lightest before blonde at my roots (so I think). She made it slightly framing the face and brought up the lightness a little further in random spots around my head.

Before and after from the front. Don't mind how my hair wasn't done in the first one and looks like crap. Basically just to show color change. And the lighting in my apt. is pretty bad so bare with me and the "flashy" looking pics.
The back. Look how Hawaii always makes my hair look wavy still at the roots :( Even when I straighten it. SO ANNOYING. Never did that on the mainland. But I don't straighten my hair here very often. Just sayin. What girl loves their own hair, right?!
And here is my new hair! A nice change I am enjoying it. I think as my roots grow out more it will naturally grow into a more ombre look and perhaps the lighter spots will get even lighter in the sun, who knows! Change is fun!
