i want proof

Recently Chase and I had the fun opportunity to model for Proof Eyewear. They are a rad company that specializes in wood sunglasses. What makes it even better is that Chase and I are college friends with the owners, and it's so fun being able to support a company that your friend has grown and turned into a successful business. I love supporting companies like this, and the fact that they are based in my home state of Idaho makes it all the better.

These photos were taken by my sister Kylie who is an a-m-a-z-i-n-g photographer. She seriously works magic behind the lens and knows her stuff. I'm not what you would call a natural while on camera (hah, if only you knew) so it was nice feeling comfortable since it was my sister shooting the photos. Watching Kylie in her element, doing what she loves was such a joy to me. The whole time I was just observing her and so proud of her talent that she shares with the world. Her ability to direct us as models was so fun and natural, yet professional and clear. She had the ability to incorporate her creative design ideas into beautiful shots making for unique and fresh photos. I get such a raw and natural vibe off her work that cant help but trap me into staring at them for hours. Check out her website here and get yourself a new pair of sunnies for summer by Proof.

skate or die

It's sorta funny. Growing up, I remember joking with my sisters that I wanted to marry a "hot" California boy with blonde hair. Wow, did I score haha. Guess my teenage dreams weren't so far fetched afterall :). But, that's not why I am writing this post. Just a little side track for ya. PS. Chase and I DO wear clothes on the daily. I apologize most activities we do here in Hawaii tend to be at the beach or in the blazing heat and humidity, making it appear as though we are always half naked (for lack of better words). Although, I assure you, we gladly wear clothes on the daily. I just choose to spare you the boring pictures of me working from my computer at home in my pajamas or in my "mommy clothes" from nannying, or Chase studying in the library with his head buried in books. You see, those are our usual daily activities. Other than that, we go to the movies on occasion. But we all know what that looks like ;).

Anyway, the other day I was reading through old posts on my bloggy here and couldn't stop smiling. I blog to remember the fun things Chase and I do together and memories we continue to create. It got me to thinking about how much I love my husband. He works hard at his job and studying in school, but never fails to make time to do what he loves. Skate and surf.

One of the things I love about Chase is how passionate he is. He literally will go nuts if he hasn't gotten outside for the day. Even if he gets to skate for just an hour between classes, it brings him back to sanity. And I'm ok with that. In fact, I take his example of doing what he loves to do what I love more often. It is so important to have hobbies and do things other than the usual routine of school, work, or whatever else your day seems to be filled with. It's too easy to get locked up in a routine and forget to do things that are FUN! So thank you Chase, for always reminding me how to have fun. YOLO people! Hah, I had to add that ;). For reals . . .

just a couple of bums

this past saturday after we went to the diamond head and played at the beach, we stopped by the mall and got chase some new and much needed skate shoes! he picked out these vans that i just love. he skates so much all his shoes get holes and worn out real fast, only lasting a couple months if that. his last pair had holes in the soles and all over the tops so every time he skated it would rip up his socks and hurt his feet because they were exposed! but he still went with holey shoes haha, so he deserved a new pair.

we found this skate park under the freeway overpass called makiki skatepark. we felt like a couple of bums just chillin' there with everyones nasty litter, but it sure was fun! i love seeing how happy chase gets when he skates, it always puts him in a good mood. and to end the day there was a beautiful sunset we caught just above the buildings and busy freeway.

me and chase

one thing i love about my hubby is that he can't stand being in the house for too long. when im done with my internship or work i usually go to the beach to just chill. and i love pulling up to a cute boy trying new tricks in the parking lot to get all his wiggles out as i call it, gosh i was a nanny too long after a long day of school and work . this boy can never stay cooped up, and i am totally okay with that. skate away i say! or surf! or just whatever. happy weekend!!!

fish eye

fish eye cameras are so cool. megs got some sweet shots of chase skating last week at bonzai and some gopro action too, so i need to compile a sweet video to share. and my sisters and i sure had a good time watching, reminiscing about high school days spent at skate parks or skate anything with silly boys.

pool skating reminds me of lords of dogtown, one of my favorite movies. megan kept thinking chase was similar to jay in the movie, but i was feelin more like stacy except more manly and shorter hair but stud nonetheless. until then . . . we s-k-a-t-e. and i will forever be chase's #1 fan!

fan club

chase has a fan club. and im not only talking about me. when there are no waves he likes to skate. and the nearest skate park to our house is the one at the high school in kahuku. with this comes lots of cute children rolling around on their bums and bmx bikes, which can be annoying although adorable. but chase handles it like a champ. even when they cut him off and ask him a flow of non stop questions. literally. for hours. repeatedly. questions such as:

"are you pro?"
"can you go pro when you're four?"
"is that your girlfriend?"
"how old are you?"
"what kind of bearings are those?"
"are you in high school?"
"can i ride your board?"
"how do you do that trick?"
"wow that was so cool, teach me that?"
"are you sponsored?"
"are you sponsored?"
oh and, "are you sponsored? well, you should be."

it's just the cutest thing. i'm so glad i married a kind and patient man who lets the kiddies ride his board and teaches them new tricks of the trade. everytime he comes to the park the kids yell, "CHASE IS HERE!" never fails to make me giggle and smile. love it. he will be the best dad someday.

blurrzy skate hockey

Last weekend Chase and some of his buds went to play skate hockey at the local park. The wives decided to kick back, chat, and be entertained. Nothing is funnier than this. When our husbands would fall or get bashed or miss the ball entirely we would all leap with worried faces and yell, "Are you ok, oh my gosh," only to find our husbands looking at us with a face that said, "Are you kidding me, you did not just say that in front of all of my friends!" Ha ha, so hilarious. Boys are so funny, they are always fine right?! I seriously felt like that annoying mom at games that never stops cheering and leaps from her seat when injury occurs! Who am I? Sorry Chase, I guess I'm allowed to be the worried annoying wife sometimes, right? Also I tend to be the wife that takes lots of pictures. Annoying again. . . oops! But I don't care...MEMORIES PEOPLE! Plus who plays skate hockey? It's hilarious.

So our friend Cade (pictured above) is from Canada and we all know how Canadians love hockey ;) So why not incorporate it into skating? Amazing. So don't mind the blurry pics. Guess our camera isn't so hot at night with field lights. But you get the drift. Basically they play with same rules as hockey and the goals are the grocery carts. Creative. Don't tell Foodland. Innocent bystander.
