cabin retreat

Our New Years this year was spent in Idaho, walking the freezing streets of Boise and sipping gas station cocoa, mmmm. There was live music, a video recap of the highlights of 2013, and most importantly . . . get ready for it . . . a spud drop! HAH! Yep, Idaho dropped a ginormous potato to thrill the crowds. Needless to say, the countdown didn't work, the confetti didn't fly, and there was no music to build the suspense. BUT the potato sure did decend slowly on a crane haha. It should get better next year ;). I just wanted the potato to explode and poop out a bunch of fries haha.

After our thrilling adventure downtown, we decided to make a quick trip to our family cabin the following day. It was the perfect way to start off a new year, in our favorite place on earth. Because it was winter, we had no running water or power so basically were camping indoors. We were sure to stay bundled up to keep warm. Kylie and Spence made a bomb breakfast in which made Megan and I look sheepish with our instant oatmeal (hah). The boys stayed up all night playing an old school video game they found tucked up in a suitcase that said "Davey" on the front. It belonged to my dad  as a child, how cool is that. Then to get our adventure on we walked down to the pasture and played on a mini ice rink while the boys exploded massive chunks of ice. Soon Van was over the cold and we all agreed it was time to stop by the hot springs on the way home. Oh winter, I really do enjoy you.
