This year on Memorial Day I turned the big 27! I really feel like that is old. I know I'm still young, but seriously whose with me? How did my late 20's sneak up so fast, I can hardly believe it. It's funny how time flies and I still feel like my little 18 year old self on the inside. Life is always an adventure and full of surprises and I'm so grateful I get to spend mine with my best friend at my side. We are aging together nicely haha.
Chase planned this whole fun weekend for us to celebrate my birthday and Memorial Day at the same time. We spent the weekend camping and exploring in Joshua Tree and Memorial Day at the beach and BBQing with friends. Lucky for me this year my birthday actually fell on Memorial Day so everyone had the day off of work to party with us, win win!
Joshua Tree is a rad place. The town is small and funky and the park is amazing. Those cute little joshua trees everywhere are so fun and there are lots of boulders and places to explore and hike around. I think Chase and I should explore this whole rock climbing world a bit, maybe next time. Around dusk, we found our own campsite and loved every bit of it. Nothing beats waking up with the sun and a hubby cookin' me some pancakes, yum! I'm so grateful for my husband and his adventurous soul and all the spoiling he did for my birthday. Can't wait to see what he has up his sleeve for my 28th next year ;)!!!

Each year on our birthday my sisters and I like to plan a trip so we can celebrate together. This year we were having a sorta dilemma as to where we could go. I was stuck on the idea of going to Hawaii like we had the past two years, but my sisters were throwing around the idea of road tripping the Oregon or Washington coast. I absolutely loved the sound of a road trip and it ended up being the best solution for all of us to do it in California. So bye bye baby Van and husbands, and hellllllllo sisters!! Camping Big Sur it was!
Growing up as a triplet you sorta naturally get stuck into a "role" within the sisterhood. I was always deemed the brave sister who liked to try new things. I took on roles such as the driver, the one that called the parents when we were late, the one who braved the phone call to the neighbors to ask to swim in their pool, the first sister to jump off a cliff, or the one who did weird things like play in the powder puff football game senior year. Meanwhile, Megan was the popular one whom all the boys adored and girls trusted with their whole hearts, spilling every last detail of their life to. She goes with the flow wearing a cute smile on her face and not a care in the world. Kylie was the funny sister that liked to make plans. She did the stressing for all of us, but always made sure everyone around her felt happy and loved. All in all, we work together really well as a trio. Which takes me to my whole point of this rant. Planning this trip.
Since we began blogging together over at Traveling Triplets, Kylie in a sense has become our manager as Megan and I like to say. She plans, communicates, directs, and just gets things done, it's awesome. Meg and I just put the stamp of approval on things and say, "YES sounds great or NO lets do this instead." Meg always has great suggestions and tips as well so I sort of feel like a slacker. But Ky was planning this trip months in advance, long before I was even thinking about it. She sent Meg and I links to fishing spots, camp sites, where to get gas and buy wood, and even created a budget for us. Meg and I contributed here and there to the planning and suggested some things, but the cake goes to Kylie. She is amazing and it is because of her thorough research and mad fire starting skills that we survived this trip. I was definitely the weakest link in our girls only camp trip but loved observing and learning from my sisters and all the tricks to road tripping and camping successfully. I was made fun of for forgetting a flashlight and being afraid of the dark woods, so I guess my bravery has worn thin haha. Either way, I love my sisters so much and cherish the memories we make together. Can't wait for more camping adventures with them by my side :).

I turned 26 on May 25th and spent a week camping and traveling through California with my triplet sisters. It was a blast and I'll be sure to fill you in soon. I got home from my trip on Memorial Day and Chase had quite the surprise up his sleeve :) As I approached the front porch there was a BBQ goin', chocolate cake being served, and cute balloons dotting the table's umbrella. And better yet, I was surrounded by family.
After dinner, Chase had me close my eyes as he walked me into a dark room, only to have everyone yell, "SURPRISE," with a very well wrapped item that looked very much like a surfboard hehe. Beneath the cute balloon paper was a brand new, jade green with black stripes, 9'2" longboard and an adorable Billabong spring suit to match! Yeeee I can't wait to ride baby waves all summer. I am so grateful for Chase and his thoughtfulness. He knew I'd been wanting a long board since moving back to the mainland so I guess all those times I ramble and get nothing but blank stares and, "mmm hmmm ya," he really was listening?! Well partially at least ;).

It's amazing to me how coastal towns vary so much from one another, each bringing something unique to the table. Here we found some cute little sand dollars combing the beaches and even a few shells.
Mid day we splurged on an amazinnnng steak dinner followed by chocolate ice cream cake, our favorites! I know, we are so Idaho ;). We caught the sunset at Cayucos as we grazed the beaches for sea glass with not much luck (bummer). It was gorgeous out, and we all dreamed up our make shift lives of growing old in that cute little town together.
To end our day since we had been camping for so long, we decided to get ourselves a cute little cottage and stay right on the beach. And that we did! We ordered take out Thai and watched a chick flick with candy in hand and the fire going. It was perfect.
